Old Turkic Inscriptions of the Chinese Mirrors from Siberian Museums

35th Annual Meeting of the PIAC, 1992

A lot of Old Turkic inscriptions, found in South Siberia, were put on the fragments of Chinese metallic mirrors of the Tang period, which were considered as amulets by the Turks. Texts of the inscriptions in the most cases were not interpreted historically and not translated. In spite of the brevity of the inscriptions they are very important sources of information.
