Two names for one country: Manchu Solho and Coohiyan for Korea
47th Meeting of the PIAC, Cambridge 2004
The paper analyses the reasons why two names (Solho and Coohiyan) are used in early Manchu documents to indicate Korea. It is based on 17th and 18th century Manchu documents, such as official letters exchanged between the Manchu khan and the king of Korea,as well as other historical Manchu sources.
