Studies on the Development of Usage of Computer Desk-Top-Publishing Technique to Process Manchu Scripts

Two kinds of printers were applied to this study, the 9-pin dot matrix line printer was used to print out the 24×24 dots Manchu characters in 1988, and the HP laser jet II P page printer was used to print out the 110×110 dots Manchu Characters in 1991, Laser printer had a very good result, but line printer was not satisfactory.
In this study, a handy scanner was used to scan printed source Manchu characters to produce the fonds within the computer. We found to use this method would not only promoting the speed of fonds manufacture significantly, but also improving the fonds quality of laser printer outputs.
