A Study on the Word Family Derived From Сa *Ka- ~ *Ko-

Based on the phonetically related and semantically connected dozens of words discovered in Mongolian, Turkic, Manchu, Korean, and Japanese, the author believes that there was a verb in Common Altaic whose phonetic body could be reconstructed as *ka- ~ *ka-, and which roughly had the meaning of “to cover, to control, to look after, to protect, to surround, to seal off” and the like. This article explores the word families derived from or formed with the verb in each language branch in the frame of the comparative historical linguistics.
