A Comparison Between Tatar and Turkish in Terms of Use +lA- Suffix
50th Annual Meeting of the PIAC, Kazan 2007
The +lА- suffix is a derivational affix most frequently used in Tatar and Turkish just like in other Altaic branches. But there isn’t one exact parallel relation in the use of this suffix. Some of the noun roots and stems adding +lA- are employed in either only Tatar or only Turkish (Tat. Altınla- / Turk. — ; Turk. eşle- / Tat. — etc.). In this study, disregarding phonological differences, verbs derived from noun roots and stems added +lA- will be dealt on commonly used in Tatar and Turkish. It will be found out that some of these verbs are never used in one of them, whereas some of these are used in different meanings. Thus, the same morphemes on how these two languages differ semantically will be exemplified.
