Name Changes of Geographical Locations in Kyrgyzstan

With the Russian conquest of Ala-Too region Kyrgyz names were changed with Russian names. The Russians attempted to make our people forget original names which were given by them. Simultaneously, the history of our people also began to disappear as names of places, rivers, and lakes were important sources for the learning and integration of our history. These name changes confirm the imperialist impulse of the Tsarist period.
