Religious Culture of the Mongolian Peoples in the Context of Retrospective and Perspective analyses
67th Annual Meeting of the PIAC, Gotemba 2025
The Mongolian peoples inhabiting the region of Inner Asia perceived their habitat as a kind of sacred territory with the cult of the Eternal Blue Sky, celestial planets and luminaries, the Milky Way, North Star, Earth with all possible “masters” of places, mountains, caves and trees. In the historical retrospective, archaic religious representations of cosmogonist myths are also present, and the legend of the creation of the World, its environment, etc.
However, this entire huge Pantheon was organically incorporated by the Buddhist religious system, creating a special ethno-confessional palette in the regions of Inner Mongolia of the PRC, the modern territory of the Mongolian Republic and, in fact, the Russian Federation (the Republic of Buryatia (Eastern Siberia); Republic of Kalmykia (European part of Russia); Republic of Tyva (Southern Siberia).
At the same time, a Retrospective study of archaic mythological representations of the Mongolian peoples which was created inside the Turkic-Mongolian enclave of the Great Steppe allows for the most deepist understanding and interpretation the Modern cultural, Ethno cultural and Confessional realities of the Mongolians.
