Contrastive Analysis of Food Industry Terms in Kazakh, English, and Russian Languages on the Basis of Legislative Documents

The paper is devoted to reveal main attitudes towards translating food industry terms in Kazakh, English, and Russian languages by contrastive analysis of legislative documents in Kazakhstan. For this article over 100 examples have been selected to figure our main approach of translating food industry terms in mentioned languages. There has been found that such translating methods as kalka (transformation of words, phrases, or meaning from one language to another), Russian borrowings, and international words have used as main translation transformations. It should be mentioned that Kazakh language has been considered as a main focus to investigate translation approach. As a result, these ways of translation depict historical development of Kazakh language and Kazakhstan in general as widely used Russian borrowings are likely to be explained by Soviet Union substantial influence on Kazakh food industry terms formation. Whereas international words are employed broadly because of internationalization and globalization processes around the globe. In addition, semantical and structural peculiarities of Kazakh food industry terms have been analyzed to define relevant kalka type (semantic, structural, or semantic-structural). This way of analysis helps to understand Kazakh food industry terms formation and their way of translation. Thus, the disclosure of Kazakh food industry terms semantics and structure and translation methods these terms into English and Russian could describe historical development of Kazakhstan and interrelation of mentioned languages.
