Qaya gel-/getür- in Old Ottoman Turkish and its Reflections in Ottoman Poetry

In this study, the expression, qaya gel-/getür-, which has firstly been identified in Mes‘ûd bin Ahmed’s masnavi Süheyl ü Nev-bahâr and which is peculiar to Anatolian Turkish, has been examined. The study focuses on two questions: 1. the meaning framework of qaya gel-/getür- 2. The origin of qaya gel-/getür-. Within this context the meaning framework of qaya gel-/getür- has beenmade explicit by ordering and examining the poems of ‘Aşkî [15th century.], Lâmi‘î Çelebi [1472-1532], Zâtî [1471-1546] and Necâtî Beg [1509] apart from the masnavi of Süheyl ü Nev-bahâr. On the other hand, the origin of the expression has also been examined, which has been explained in consideration of the data related to Turkish linguistics.
