Veronika Veit wrote a dedication to Charles Bawden’s 70th birthday:

  • (1994). Charles Bawden, on the Occasion of his 70th Birthday. Central Asiatic Journal, 38(2), 149–154. http://www.jstor.org/stable/41927976,

and she also wrote a remarkable obituary, which, in itself, is a fine piece of biographical literature. She depicts  Charles Bawden’s early life, his travels, which made him see in Hong Kong the devastation brought forth by WW  II, and which, besides a detailed description of his scholarly contributions, highlights an important, but not really well-known facet of Charles Bawden’s life: he was also a poet.

A short obituary also was posted in altaist.org.
